AFA SONG about weaving

The codes that they cast for people
It is tuladogbe that I have cast
All the work that the reel has done
It is the reeds, the hedddles that become the cloth
The codes that they cast for people
It is tuladogbe that I have cast
All the work that the reel has done
It is the reeds, the hedddles that become the cloth

All the work, all the work

All the work that the reel has done
It is the reeds, the hedddles that become the cloth
The codes that they cast for people
It is tuladogbe that I have cast
All the work that the reel has done
It is the reeds, the hedddles that become the cloth

TULADOGBE is one of the mystic codes or notations in the AFA system of divination of 258 codes. Each code is defined by seven or more stories interpreted by AFA priests/priestesses to determine the spiritual life of Individuals, etc. Each story carries a song dilating on the moral teachings of the story. A code gives instructions on diet, character, work, relationships, sacrifices, spiritual origins, religion, the past, present and the future life, etc.
One of the stories in TULADOGBE speaks of Loom and her brothers and sisters - Bobbin, Shuttle etc.
In short, Heddle, Reel, Reed and others assisted Loom in producing the cloth. However, the role of Reel was never recognized by others. The credit of a good cloth always went to Reed, Heddle and others, who were praised for their role in turning out a compact c cloth. However, it was Reel who opened up the warp for the shuttle to carry the weft through the shed, and for Reed to tamp the weft into a compact material. In interpretation, the person who takes the piece of the reel in the story, plays an important or central role in an enterprise but is never given the due credit.
This story in TULADOGBE also shows that weaving is as old as the Ewe e and Yoruba society, AFA being an ancient religious practice of the Ewe/Yoruba and is still practiced today.
